Just moved into a house with a small patch of mold on the artex ceiling. The artex does contain asbestos, so am looking for a mold-killing cleaning product to use that won't damage the paint (so as not to expose the artex underneath) - pic attached
Vinegar is often recommended for mold removal - but could this strip some paint? Or is there some sort of anti-mold spray that would definitely do no damage?
The paint seems to be glossy-ish - so presumably has some degree of water resistance, e.g. compared to mat paint on walls.
Have already managed to wipe some mold off using a damp sponge, and this in itself doesn't seem to have done any damage - obviously am wiping very gently so as not to break off any of the artex "stipples" - so will continue with that method, but would like to add a some sort of product to make sure the mold is killed
btw, there was also a small patch on the architrave directly below, and this wiped off very easily. Therefore, I don't think it's coming from any sort of leak or damp above (which would obviously be a bigger problem!) but most likely just condensation from the room (and it's above a window if that gives any clues). Anyway, as far as I can tell it's just surface mold, so as long as I wipe it off and then keep the room well ventilated should be fine.
