hi i want to remove the radiator in the kitchen and not replace it.
the pipe that runs to the radiator needs to be cut off but first of all how do i stop the supply of water so i dont have a flood. can i just shut off the valves at the pump?

you need to empty the water out of the central heating system before cutting any pipework.

answer these questions for further advice

do you have a pressure gauge on or near the boiler ?
can you find the drain off tap?
is there a black plastic water tank in the loft about 12 x 18 inches ?

What system have you got?
If it is a sealed one turn off boiler and drain down, then cap the ends.
Vented system, tie up float valve, drain down and cap the ends.
Refill correctly, inhibitor, bleed rads etc.
I assume this as a 2 pipe system and the rad is fed from 2 branches which terminate at the rad in question.
If you are unsure seek a plumber :D
