removing radiator

hi , can i remove a radiator for a couple of days and keep the central heating running, ( just leaving the pipes out of the floorboards with no radiator on ).thanks :?:

Yes easily if the valves don't let any water out. Usually hey have 3/4" unions - but check. A plumber's merchant will sell you capc and washers you can screw on just in case.

If you have a thermostatic valveyou should ideally use the "decorator's" cap which came with it, which screws on in place of the thermo head. If you rely on the trv itself staying shut (some do have a "0" position which will do this), and it decides in the night that it's cold, and it opens, you will flood the house.
 
good advice on the thermo valve risks. Had a builder friend who flooded a house after removing a rad, after he left the premisses the temperature dropped.

The older honeywell valves have a plastic gland surrounding the pin that can be screwed down to permanently close the valve.

If its a sealed system (eg combi boiler) let all the pressure out before you remove the rad.

I have seen that happen cost a few £K to put it all right
