removing radiator

I have a quite old central heating system with drayton thermostats fitted,
they have a freeze setting only (no off) I want to remove them for
decorating but am unable to do so because I cannot close the valve completely. I have removed one because a friendly plumber lent me a plastic cap which closes the valve, he says these are not readily available
can anybody point me in the right direction to obtain these as I want to remove others & return his cap.

If you have one cap, which you have borrowed and are not reusing the valves, can't you remove one radiator at a time?
