hi. we spent most of last year renovating our house. This meant a refitted bathroom and a new shower room, amongst other things.
Electrical regulations state that any recessed light/halogen that is fitted above the bath or shower area (zone1) has to be in a special fitting. Fair enough...however, twice a bulb has gone, and try as we might to remove the whole fitting carefully (you can't just remove the bulb), we end up taking out half the plaster surrounding the light...AND loads of plaster dust ends up inside the light once you push it back into place.
This is so annoying! And is making a rightmess of my lovely plastered new ceilings!
I am wondering is there is a special technique to removing these lights - anyone have any ideas?
We have tried to be really careful, but somethimes they need a bit of force to remove them!

Depends on the design of the fitting, but most have some form of removable front/cap, which allows you to change the lamp(bulb) and the fitting will stay in the ceiling.
Look around the fitting and see if you can spot some sort of gasket or seal between the two parts.
Some also will twist off, sometimes just a half turn.
Isolate before you start messing though.

You don't need to remove fitting from ceiling the bulb holder will be either a push fit or bayonet.
