I have just finished repainting the windows and window sills on a job that had previously been rendered, it had the same render as the property to the left).
My friend, Colin (Aspen Pointing, NW10) got me in to angle grind a straight line between the semi-detached properties. I screwed my festool guide rails to the wall and ran my depth set Festool angle grinder down the party line (connected to a dust extractor).
He, Wayne and Nathan spent weeks slowly hacking off the render.
Most of the red rubber bricks had to be replaced because the faces ripped off. The yellow stock bricks had to be ground back to make them flat.
I finished painting today. Now it looks like this.
I can walk around Ealing (West London) and with a 90-95% certainty, recognise his work. Before meeting him, about 7? years ago, I had not understood how impactful decent pointing is.
If anyone in west London is looking for a really good brick pointer, specialising in weather struck pointing, PM me for Colin's details. As a decorator, his work enables me to generate straighter lines when painting cills and sash boxes/windows.
