Gents,
I have been asked to replace a friend's misted DG unit. Glass measured and ordered, but the seal seems to be about 3mm thick and sits flush with the internal beading. How do I get it out and is replacement the same as the ones that sit proud of the beading (Washing up liquid and wooden 'persuader'? I am also assuming (Probably incorrectly) that once the seal is out, the UPVC beading will unclip with the aid of a flat end screwdriver, or similar?

Any advice would be welcome.

you will probably find that the gasket is an E type gasket that does not require removing first on internally beaded windows.

Start off in the middle of the longest bead with a flat bladed implement ie strong paint scraper or a flat putty knife between the frame and the bead pushing in gently the blade, have a second one handy as soon as you can insert it, it will allow you to get a fresh hold without it snapping back in to place once you have the blade behind the bead carefully slide it upwards towards the corner or sidewards dependent on where the longest bead is . repeat on all beads and hey presto you've removed the beads. swap glass put in shortest beads first is the key.

hope this helps
