Renault Clio Odo fault

My Clio has afault on the Odometer display (LED). Only the bottom half of the figures show up. The dealer says that it cant be fixed and the only way to put it right is a complete new instrument panel costing £500 + You can sees that the miles are increasing so I suspect it could be fixed, anyone help ?

leds can fail, but not often, i would suspect its a loose connection, (but it may not be)

try and fix a l.e.d. matrix...........not easy- if it`s annoying cover with a strip of black tape, then you can`t see it
