I have a renault clio that has just developed a fault with the brake lights. They stay on constantly even when the foot brakes or hand brake is not applied. The engine does not have to be running, just the ingnition on. I have looked for a sensor switch, thinking that this may be stuck, but was unable to find one. Has anybody got any ideas??
Thanks

I am not all familiar with the Renault Clio but, many vehicles have their brake light indicator switch mounted up, under the dashboard, on the brake pedal mechanism itself. Have you looked in this area? It could be that the switch has become dislodged or, the button, operated by the brake pedal, is stuck down. Some vehicles have a pressure type switch mounted somewhere on the hydraulic system. A Haynes manual would likely show it's type and location.

Cheers mate spent 2 hrs 2day and finally located the switch. It had dropped down and ended up wedged behind the clutch pedal. Thanks
