renault megane fuel gauge

the wifes 2000 megane fuel gauge reads incorrectly .sometimes shows empty . sometimes correct.

also the temp. gauge always at 3/4 when running normal ,been like it since owned about 2 years .

fuel gauge only recently started to play up .
was wondering if anyone knows of common link to check like earth connection for then both ?

water temp guage is probally correct

fuel one ?

try replacing the sender in the tank

or voltage regulator in dash faulty ?

the temp gauge always between 3/4 and into red and just sits there once warmed up all connections seem ok , seem to think some sort of voltage regulator that controls both . really anoying especially the fuel gauge. dave
