Render on concrete retaining wall?

Hi All,

I have a 3ft retaining wall in my garden that has been constructed from concrete fencing posts with smooth but patterned concrete slabs stacked up on top of each other between the posts.

I want to cover this over as I don't feel it looks nice at all. Can I render straight onto this or would I be better covering it over with breeze blocks first?

I think you would be better off with a block wall in front, because even if you mesh it
it would still crack along the slab line, taking it as by slabs you mean gravel boards.

They are gravel boards, although I didn't know they were called that until I googled it a few minutes ago.
