Hi
I have decided to renovate the wooden oak floor in our kitchen..it is the original flooring from about 1870.. Has small gaps between each floirboard , most of the varnish has been scuffed away over the years and there are a few chips and debts. Apart from that not bad nick.. What I would like is a lightish and not too glossy finish as hate that high gloss finish that makes it look tacky and cheap.. It is also a small room so don't want it too dark..
So I will sand with a handheld belt sander 80 grit then 120grit..
Wipe down with rubbing alcohol..
Then I want to fill the gaps and I heard that you can mix the sawdust from the 120 grit with a resin and skim this over the floor to fill the gaps..
I will then put 3 coats of a clear polyurethene..
How does thus sound have I missed any steps
What resin should I buy
Any other advice would be handy as I am a newbie to this
Cheers
Barney
