I need to repaint our front door (currently white, want to repaint white).
There is some damage on the frame (approx 60mm * 25 mm) where the paint has completely come away, and the wood beneath is exposed and starting to rot/flake off
I'm trying to make a plan to resolve this before it gets worse, and was hoping for comments/advice from those who know about such things. My current plan is:
1)Sand the door down
-what sandpaper to use? (course, medium or fine)
-how much to sand? (just enough to take the shine off the gloss door?, or more?)
2)Carefully, remove rotting/flaking wood (assuming there isn't too much), and fill with wood filler.
3)Paint door and frame with an undercoat (and leave to dry)
4)Paint with white exterior gloss again (1 or 2 coats).
Can anyone offer any advice, comments, or let me know if I'm wrong anywhere with my plan?
