as I’ve got some time on my hands I’m going to repaint the mock Tudor beams at the front of the house. They were all repainted about 6 years ago but started to flake pretty quickly which was a surprise. Perhaps it was the paint and a combination of the sun on the house through our morning.
I’m going to try my luck with sandtex black satin paint I assume the prep work is to sand down the beams as much as possible, fill in any rotten areas but would I then need to undercoat it before applying the black paint?
sorry if this is a stupid question! Normally I always undercoat on wood. Hopefully satin will do the job as I’m not a fan of gloss.
cheers for any input
