Repair Baxi 80e or replace for new?

Hello, I am hoping someone could give me some advice please. We have a Baxi 80e manufactured April 2002 and we have a problem with no hot water but the central heating is still fine. I have been told that Baxi will not repair boilers 10+ years old they replace with new condensor boilers due to immissions savings. I have a Baxi engineer calling on wednesday and there is a call out charge first then parts and labour on top. Could anyone advise me please if this is an expensive repair if so is it worth the repair or do we simply replace now?

Oh no I wouldn't even consider DIY. The engineer is a Baxi engineer calling out.

Check how much Baxi are charging as it is usually well over £200 so if your the type of person who wants a big company out phone BG they charge approx £160 for fixed price repair including parts.

Part is no more than £20 and takes ten mins to fit,

Baxi engineers work for Heateam, who in turn charge a one off guaranteed fixed price repair, paid for in advance.

If they're claiming to be a Baxi engineer, check their credentials.

Depends on the model and how old it is.

For a combi over 5 years old £299.00 includes all parts, labour and 12months cover for all defects on the boiler and controls.

So you charge enough to ensure you can change every part on the boiler and still make a profit.

Hi guys,
I cancelled the Baxi engineer. Yes it was a Baxi engineer that was going to call I was told by Baxi as that's who we rang it was a call out fee of £65 + parts + labour + VAT but a local corgi company was cheaper so I cancelled and got the local corgi company. Unfortunately due to an office move the engineer didn't get the cancellation message but I have been assured I will not be charged. It was the diaphram thank you I haven't as yet recieved the bill but I'll let you guys know what it was. The guy that called said the part was approx £10 and would be back the next day it was almost a week later but at least I now have hot water.
Thanks again fitz1 I would have just changed the boiler as I thought we were going to need one but after reading on here I'm pleased I didn't as I have saved a load.
