Repair/Sand Damaged Wooden Door Sill?

A wooden door sill got damaged during the rebuilding of an extension (see attached pictures).

Would it be possible and feasible to repair this by sanding or does it look like its too damaged?

Two part wood filler( or car filler) and sanding or drop a 6mm MDF section over to give fresh smooth finish ( may require door trimming).
