Hi all

I’m planning to tidy up the front of the house. The decorative woodwork on the lefthand side of the porch is in need of some attention where it has rotted away. Photos below of rotted side and sound side.

I’m not sure how to approach recreating the rounded shape.

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

I don't honestly see the point of re-creating the "round" shape unless it is matched elsewhere on the building because it is not particularly attractive IMO. However, if needs must, I can see that it is in fact circular in which case measure the diameter then scribe the same shape on a piece of fresh timber - the old pencil and string method will achieve this then use a coping saw to cut round the scribed mark on the new timber. I guess you can work out how to attach it using exterior grade glue or a galvanized mending plate underneath where it won't show.
