I've got a bit of a problem. Ground floor flat with mains water coming in on top of bathroom subfloor. The stoptap, located in a cupboard next to the bathroom, developed a leak which went unnoticed for quite some time. Water tracked back along the mains pipe and brought a section of the floating floor in the bathroom up. To be honest the floor wasn't much cop anyway and it looks as if previous damage had occured.

So, I have now chopped the bad section out including the polystyrene blocks. So, I now have an irregular section of approx 1.2M * 1M * 70mm to fill. The bathroom has recently been refitted including tiling and moving the bath isn't an option, there are no problems removing the WC and basin though - phew!.

The finished surface is obviously going to be renewed but I need to know how to make good this gaping hole in the middle of my bathroom!

I am thinking of a concrete screed and then plywood then some lino. Unfortunately I have no idea how to put the screen down, so my questions are:-

(1) Will there be any problem feathering the screed to the remaining chipboard?

(2) Will there be any shrinkage as the screed dries out?

(3) Should I appy the screed directly to the subfloor and should it be packed out with anything?

(4) Is there a quick drying ready mixed screed that I can use? if so, where can I get it from?

(5) How would I fix the plywood to the screed?

(6) How do I level the screed off? should I use a batten and finish with a float, or would a rough surface be OK given that plywood will be going over it?

Obviously I don't knwo what I'm doing so any advice would be more than welcome. My fri**in brother is a plasterer but he's not answering the phone.

Cheers
