Hi everyone,
so this weekend I will be repairing the render that holds the flashing on my roof as it has come away from the parapet wall and water is getting in,
so I will chip off the old render to hopefully reveal good lead then i have two options
1 - simply re-render down to the lead and make good
2 - fix a render stop over the flashing and render down to this
so option one is the easiest but all the houses on my street which have been redone have render stops fitted, when i asked a friend if this was the best way to do it he said, why bother and that you would also have to screw through the flashing to attach to the wall, which could compromise the flashing.
if anyone could give advice on the correct way to render, and how to fit the render stop, or if its even worth bothering with?
also any tips on best render mix, if i should apply PVA to wall first, if should add waterproof solution to mix to stop render cracking? any advice would be greatly appreciated
will try an add photo
