We have a split in the stave of one of our wooden worktops around the sink, and it's bowed out slightly as well. I would like to find out if it's possible to fix the split stave using the following method:-
clean out inside of stave(s)
glue using high strength wood adhesive and clamp
Would this be strong enough to hold the worktop together?
eta: I've done a bit of investigation onto the cause of this and the installation has been correct (expansion gaps left, brackets used that allow expansion, regularly oiled), so that leaves it as a possible manufaturing fault. Supplier hasn't been very forthcoming with helping ,so short of taking them to court there isn't really much else I can do with them. I would like some advice on trying to fix the issue myself if possible.
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers!
