Replace asbestos soffit

I want to replace some asbestos soffits on a bungalow with plywood, will exterior grade do or do I need to use marine ply? The asbestos fits into a 4mm slot in the facia board so I'd like to use 4mm ply fitted into the same slot, or do I need something thicker?

Ply won't last long without constant decs. Use a soffit board in UPVC or supalux.

Thanks. I'm not keen on the look of UPVC. I take it supalux is that white board that looks like asbestos but isn't.

You get upvc in various finishes including woodgrain effect.

Yeah, I don't mind the black UPVC but it's a hell of a price, at least the ones I've looked at are.

The stuff I mean is purpose made soffit board. It's white upvc with a stuck on face of the chosen finish. Not sure of the price but wouldn't think it to be too expensive.
