Apologies if a solution is posted elsewhere - I had a pretty good look and could not find anything that was exactly the same scenario (being a novice, that is what I needed!)

I am trying to replace a light fitting in my kitchen. The current fitting is connected to a ceiling rose which I need to remove to fit the new fitting. Where I have come unstuck is that the ceiling rose has 4 cable leading into it (rather than 3 as most of the "how-to guides" illustrate). This means that I have a lot more smaller wires than I know what to do with.

I have included a crude diagram I drew on paint along with the best images I could take of the fitting.

Would really appreciate it if someone could walk through what I need to do to replace the old light fitting with my new one. For context, the light fitting is controlled by one switch only. This switch also controls another ceiling light in the kitchen.

If anyone needs more information let me know. As I said, I am a novice at this, so would appreciate it if advice could be tailored to my abilities!

Thanks in advance. :D

It looks as if the 'extra' cable just goes to the second light. So, you have in and out of the lighting loop circuit (2), switch cable (1) and to other luminaire (1)

Well, you have done most of the work yourself by drawing the diagram.

Put the four reds together in a separate connector block.

Connect the Live, Neutral and CPC(earth) from your new light.

Live to the single black (it is the wrong way round at present) sleeved red to identify.

Neutral to the three blacks.

All CPCs(earths) together.

Thanks for both of your help. Much appreciated. I will give it a go tonight and see how I get on.
