Hi

Does anyone know what BCO issues would arise if I replaced some (10) plain clay tiles with same-sized sections of twin-walled polycarbonate?

The idea is to remove 3 from a low course, 2 from course above that, 3 from the next up, and 2 from the couse above that, creating an opening like:
xx
xxx
xx
xxx

and replace with polycarb.

I'm trying to get a low cost way of getting some daylight into the loft space.

Thanks.

Replacing tiles is not subject to building control approval.

If it was, then you would have to demonstrate how these would last more than five minutes in this situation, and how they would not let wind driven rain get under them, or in fact get ripped off by some strong wind.

It was quite common in 'the old days' to do exactly what you have described using tiles made out of glass complete with nibs and nail holes.

If you're lucky you may find some in the salvage yards.
