I have a single garage roof that needs to be replaced (currently felted). I was planning to have the OSB Boards replaced and opt for a rubber roof as that felt like the system to go with. A fitter that does both felt and rubber advised against rubber saying that felt was longer lasting and the three layer system is likely to be a much better choice. He said that the rubber roof doesn't last as log as the long established felt roof. I don't think hit's a case of one trick pony. He has installed both systems.

I was surprised by this and would welcome your views. Thanks in advance.

Googling suggests EPDM has a lifespan of anywhere from 20 years up to 50 years, depending on the exact product.

I hope to do my garage roof this year (currently has the corrugated sheets) and will be opting for EPDM. Note however I'm no expert and others will be better placed to advise.
