Replace Hall Radiator

The old radiator was 1440mm x 600mm. Valve to valve opening 1480mm.

As I cannot find one the same size in the design I want (raw metal) I am thinking of replacing it with a 1180mm x 600mm rad. which is the nearest size I can get unless I go larger. There is a similar one 1193mm x 600mm which is not so good

I know I can get radiator valve extensions but not sure if they do them in a size that would be OK with this difference. I dont mind the length of the extensions as long as they are equal either side.

The alternative is an even larger more expensive rad which would mean cutting the pipes etc.

Although if I can't get the extension lengths I need I might have to extend the existing pipes under the floorboards anyway. I prefer not too as the boards go under a wall and I would have to cut them mid hall where the nearest joist is

I also dont want to spend too much as the rad is expensive enough but if it needs a professional then that'll have to be OK.

Yes you can get rad valve extensions in multiple lengths to suit . As well as the distance apart ,you need to consider if your new rad will be the same distance from the wall as the old. Not much good if the pipes are 100 mm from the wall ,and the rads inlet ports are 150 mm ,if you get me.

Great ! The valve centres are between 73 and 78 mm from the wall after fixing which is not very much and within a few mm of the the existing pipes. I reckon I will be OK now Thanks
