Hi,

We have a microbore system (8mm I think) and one room (quite large) has two radiators in it due to a previous extension.

Both radiators are mismatched, one looks much older than the other and is clearly due for renewal (70's house).

As an experiment I've switched off one radiator and the room stays hot enough just using the remaining radiator (which is clearly ancient and doesn't even appear to have fins, looks more like a sheet of metal with some dimples in it).

Is it acceptable to remove both radiators and replace with one new radiator using the correct BTU rating for the room volume? Does this upset anything else on the system?

It appears that both radiators connect to two manifolds, so i'm assuming I could cap one off at the manifold and then just replace the remaining radiator on the wall?

Sorry if this is a very basic question!

Thanks,
Leon

Yes providing the redundant pipe is removed/capped off and you do do the correct heat loss calculations for the room size, taking into consideration to the fabric of it's insulating properties.
