Hi all, I need to replace the mixer set on my corner bath, but I can\\\'t see how I can access the pipes and nuts. There is a removable wooden panel around the base of the bath, but this only allows a slight side access to the taps, with no space to turn a wrench, or get access to the second pipe. I was hoping I could take the taps off from the top, without getting access to the underside, but it doesn\\\'t seem possible...is it?

You will need a tap wrench, one of these......

Undue the two pipes and then the two retaining nuts connecting the mixer deck to the bath.

Welcome to a plumbers life.......

A third arm would be useful now

Now THAT looks SCARY! Big thanks Craig...I'll give it a go.

Before you struggle to reconnect everthing it may be worth looking at the Screwfix web site and part numbers 85981 and 42834 (or similar) which may help make life easier!!

Hi
Hope you do not mind me jumping in on this but i have a query about the tap wrench is there a slimmer version of the tap wrench as the one i have is too big to get into the space left for me.
I am asking this as i am a Janitor at one of are schools and up to now i have had to call some in just to tighten up tap nut, or will i have to grind the one i have down till it fits

Thanks in advance

guys, just wanted to say thanks for the help, and humour. The job is done; bath, sink and wastes - thanks largely to you all.

Craig, the basin wrench was invaluable - bugger to learn how, but better with practice. Cwfi - the couples came in handy on the sink, so cheers for that. and Mike - your right - it's taken me 6 hours and the air was bluer than a Tories tie, but it's complete, and I now feel so much more of a bloke, that I might even stop calling myself Brenda on weekends!

Cheers
Chyaz
