Replaced 3 way valve motor but fuse for boiler blows

Hi

I've had a problem with my hot water/central heating where when I put the hot water on, the radiators get hot as well. 3 way valve had been making an awful noise for some time but now all is quiet.
After looking on the internet my self diagnosis was the 3 way valve motor needing replacing. Replaced the Siemens Landis & Staefa MA-V322C with a Siemens Landis & Staefa RMH. The only problem I have now is every turn I turn the central heating on via Centaurplus C27 the fuse for the boiler blows and trips out the central heating.
I've put the old 3 way valve back on and I'm back to my original problem but at least I can have hot water and heat.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Am I looking at a complete replacement and not just motor?

It needs someone who can test the components to see what the problem is.

That needs a multimeter and the necessary skill.

sounds like your 3 way valve is passing (sludged up etc) thus the reason for the noise before too probably.

The fuse was blowing as the motor may not have been suitable for the valve.

If the valve is passing, and radiators heating when hot water only on, then a whole new Motorised Valve will be required.

Turn off the power supply to the heating, and then turn back on again (this will RESET the valve to its Hot Water only/rest position).
Select hot water only
Feel the pipe from the 3 port valve to the heating circuit, about 2 foot from the valve,
If it warms (not just a bit by conduction, but a lot, then it is passing by.

Are you sure you got the coloured wires in the correct terminals?

Any chance you connected live to neutral?

Don't forget, rule no 1, never assume a new part is not faulty.

At this point I can only suggest you try again and double check all your wiring connections.
