Have just moved into first house only to discover that the Worcester 24 CDi combi running the ch and hw is on its last legs- pump leaking and banging, fan assembly bearings u/s and heat exchanger begining to corrode. Time for a new boiler me thinks!

Have been looking around on the net at the various replacements available- condensing combi looks a good option, but what brand?

The Ideal Isar looks ok, and haven't seen any bad words against it as yet. Was thinking of replacing with a HE30 as hot water supply is better but would this be oversized as my house is only a 2 bed semi, 8 rads, 1 shower? Would the 24 be more sensible?

Also want to relocate boiler to loft to free up space (sealed system) so would like a remote programmer fitted also- is the Ideal suitable for this?

Would be grateful for any advice as the many options are quite daunting being a newbie!

24cdi is not an old boiler. You want to find out why it is insuch a bad shape. Perhaps the replacement may end up the same way after a short time.

I believe there are now an improved version of the isar which actually works, I wait with baited breath!
Fix the Worcester and run it for another 5 years then see if condensing boilers have got their act together although they should have had to because by then you will be having a condenser like it or not
