Bathroom rad is a cast iron job with a tap style valve each end. One is rattling and leaking when its on and won't stop closed, it just keeps winding in the clockwise off direction. So the rad is off atm. Because of the location of the pipework - in screed - to take a look at the valve I have to drain the system.

So I'm figuring, assuming I can't fix the valve I would like a reserve valve to replace the existing one. I'm not 100% sure of the flow but I think the broken valve is the inlet valve. Both taps are the same however.

I don't mind replacing the valve with one that doesn't match. I'd quite like a TRV, but the fittings are different sizes. The pipework is 15mm and there's currently a compression fitting on that, but the rad end is 22mm (I think...)

Is that a standard valve size? I can't seem to find any thing of that size or anything like it is around the £100 mark!!! Might the rad end be imperial size?

Any comments much appreciated, cheers.

Checked again and it looks like its a 1 inch fitting - any ideas where I can get a one inch valve?
