Replacement undersink water heater

Hi

the Santon engineer told me that my HAU7 undersink water heater was beyond repair so I needed a replacement.

Looking on the internet I've found a huge range of prices, though I can't see the difference between the units.

For example, are these two units interchangeable?

How come one is £116 and the other £369? Clearly Santon products aren't good quality so that can't be the difference!

Sorry, don't know. But no-one else is speaking to you. I'd get one from a well-known brand with a good guaranteee. Some of the own-brands from the big stores are made by major makers, but I don't know which. There are people who say you get what you pay for

If you live in a very hard, or an aggressive water area, look to see that the one you buy has the right kind of element.

Out of interest, how many years did your old one last, and what went wrong with it?

Dont really know how long the old one lasted. I've only been in the flat 3 years and it was there when I bought it.

I also don't know what went wrong with it. My flatmate was here when the plumber came, and apparently all he said was that he couldn't repair it and we needed a new one.

There's only about 5 parts to one of those things so I figured one of the five had to have gone (and hence be replaceable) - but apparently not. Since it cost us £70 to be told that I didn't want to have someone else out to tell me the same.
