The previous owner appeared to have covered the shed with wood preservative treatment and slapped it all over the windows. They appear to be acrylic/plastic as flexible rather than glass.

I've had a look online and 2mm acrylic sheets are cheap but 3mm and 4mm sheets are more expensive. Glass is even further expensive.

The current sheets are 18"x24" (457x610mm) each but I suspect 2mm due to flexibility, and are held in by panel pins.

Better to go for thicker acrylic? Or better to go for glass?

Glass is more at risk of shattering if you're using your shed for diy or just storing and moving larger items - I went for 3 or 4mm acrylic, can't remember which right now. Cutting it with a sharp blade takes a little practice - and it's worth trying on an spare piece first - but it made a huge difference in terms of appearance compared to the old discoloured pane.

Online companies will cut to size (on Ebay if I recall correctly) but the cutting costs add considerably to the price.

Cheers,

Blup.

BTW that discoloured yellowing appearance is how acrylic goes after a few years, so maybe an element of both

Personally acrylic, doesn't shatter if falls out or high winds.
Yup I was thinking that.

I was going to go for pre-cut/cut to size but agree the price jumps up a lot, esp with thicker acrylic panels. Some of the delivery charges mean the delivery charge is as much as the panels. But I'd still rather get it pre-cut rather than me attempting it.

The current panes aren't particularly yellow but they are starting to haze and are stained with wood preservative and hence let in a lot less light.

Is there nothing local to you? I remember getting a piece of glass cut really cheap a few years back at a local factory. Wondering if there's anything with acrylic nearby.

places like wicked/b and q sell acrylic sheet and you can cut it with a saw or score and cut it like glass

Last time I bought replacement acrylic shed windows they were a tenner each, cut to size and delivered, from ebay. 3mm thick.

I ended up going with ebay. £12 per panel delivered. Pretty much similar to other places - £10 for two panels and then £12 for delivery - is what a few websites were charging.
