Hi there,

I am looking to replace a dimmer switch that controls 2 lights in my hallway. I just want to check that this all looks correct and I should just copy what is there. Plus adding the yellow/green stripe Earth cable into the gold terminal to the side on the new plate as it is metal.

Many thanks in advance for assistance!

Well spotted, that is rather poor, it says
Compatible with dimmable LED's and CFL's. Check instructions for ratings
which is rather misleading.

Today if I want to dim lights tend to use smart bulbs rather than dimming switch. The problem with the dimming switch is to find one which does not cause a shimmer or cause the LED's to say on, so where you have multi bulbs or bulbs which are not sold in smart versions like G9 then one is forced to use a dimming switch, but otherwise smart bulbs tend to work better.

I have 8 x 6 watt in my living room chandelier, even that is not enough load for that dimming switch, I wonder where it could be used?

I like the method seen used in Turkey, fit multi bulbs split 1/3 and 2/3 so either, 1/3 or 2/3 or all lights switched on, I have it with landing light, either just centre bulb, or 4 outer bulbs, or all, and centre bulb is a smart on so can set it colour changing. Problem is only two switch wires, so only the centre bulb works on light switch, outer bulbs I use voice commands with.

Thanks everyone, I emailed the company I bought the modules from and they said

the DM400AP this is also suitable for LED’s, the minimum is 5W of LED. Maximum LED Load: 40 Watts

Well it does say on the back suitable for dimmable leds. Perhaps it’s written in any manual/sheet that comes with the product?

Those BG dimmers do work with some LEDs, you will need to adjust the thing on the back with a small screwdriver to set the brightness when the dimmer is at minimum.

Try it with the LEDs you have got. It may work.
