Hi need some advice on replacing a sloping roof at the side of our house.
At present this consists of a simple timber frame about 20ft long and approx 5ft wide, with one side attached along the side of the house, sloping downwards where the other side just sits on top of a brick wall running between the neighbours property. The roofing itself is a plastic corrugated style affair. There is no guttering on lower side so rainwater just goes straight over into the neighbours side.
The existing timber frame seems sound, so we wanted to keep that but just replace the corrugated material with something a bit more pleasing to the eye, but also with a view to running a gutter along the wall. I don't think we want to be spent a lot on a slate tile solution etc, but is there any alternative roofing material which we should consider?
Also should we be concerned about building regs if we are really just improving the existing structure?
Thanks for any advice
