Harder than it might sound.

Anything classing itself as 'security' can come with a £1000 + price tag.

The issue is that the flat itself has high levels of noise seepage, together with major heat loss as the door has distorted over time. individuals on the floor above insist on having the hallway window open 24 seven as well.

I'd like a door with sound insulation, fire rated if possible and solid, for under a grand? So far I've only found very expensive front doors, which are really designed for exterior use (usually have a sill of some description, which adds uncessary cost).

A plain flush design is adequate, nothing excessive. Eliminating noise is the most important thing as people coming up and down the hallway have no regard whatsoever.

Oh yeah, at the moment the door has a normal functioning letter box, this would need to be changed to a surface mounted for security obviously, fire and heat purposes.

Any suggestions ? I'd really like to hear from someone whose actually do this.

Well, decided this was a bad idea as the management company will have something to say about it.

Instead I've decided to fit another internal door within the hallway area, trouble is the side I want to hang it opens onto the hallway which I've learned is not a good idea for fire safety.

A bi-folding door is an option but I fear the thickeness once folded flat would prevent the existing front door from opening significantly.

I'm going to put this one on hold and re-post in future
