Replacing bay window and apex tiles

Hi, I have a traditional 30's house with tiling above bay window and a tiled triangular /apex area above the upper bay. Tiles are dreadnought type. I am planning to replace all the tiles on both areas - can anyone advise what kind of a job this is to DIY?

I want to insert some celotex insulation behind the bay tiles also while they are off, which I presume involves removing the wood battens and replacing?

I realise I need access tower, tile cutting gear and other special tools but if there are certain essential tools needed please comment.

If this wasn't a viable diy job, anyone got any ideas how much it should cost and how long to do?

Have you checked to see if it is stud work behind the tiling? Its not always the case.

I had a brief look when the internal plasterboard was being repaired - just seemed to see tiles and battens

Nothing special needed, pay attention to how it was done as you strip it.
battens off back to studs.. leave these in ...insulate, membrane , new batten, tiles..
pay attention to abutments, corners and bonds.
tools, you can get by with a hammer, tape measure, Stanley knife, a pair of pincher and strong grip.

Great, thanks datarebal, was going to get a decent pry bar as well. I'm assuming a disc cutter is best for cutting these types of tiles?

Take photos too before you strip the tiles off, might help if something doesn't quite fit or look right, for hard to insulate areas you can squirt some expanding foam in too
