hi all,
I have managed to break my Hive hub by plugging the wrong power lead into it :(
So I'd like to replace it, but unsure how best to go about this, so would appreciate input from any of you Hive experts out there.

It's an older model of Hub I think ('Nano 2 Hub V2' ) bought from British Gas about 6-7 years ago.
I see these for sale on eBay for £30 or so, so am hoping I can just buy one, plug it in, and somehow link it to my Hive account / app / pair with my thermostat.

There seem to be articles on community.hivehome.com re pairing with thermostats, but I'm not able to read any of them, as I get an error when trying to log into that site using my Hive username & password, and Hive support chat people seem unable to help me with that.

thanks for any tips you can provide,
Rob

How do I set up my replacement Hive Hub?

How do I set up my replacement Hive Hub?

Answer
Is your existing Hive Hub still connected to your account? If it is, then you will need to contact us to have it removed.

To set up your replacement hub, follow the steps below:

1. Firstly, plug the hub into the router first using the new ethernet cable provided and then into the power. The hub will flash green (for up to 30 minutes) and will show a solid green with a flashing amber when it is ready to pair. At this point, you can enter the Hub ID into the app/web.
2. This should take you to a screen that shows "Lets get started" and you can click on "Go" to start the hub searching.

Please follow the below steps to pair your existing devices to your new hub:

Pairing a Heating Zone (Receiver and Thermostat):
1. Turn off the isolation switch for the boiler/central heating system. This should power down your Hive receiver and all of the lights will go out.
2. Turn the isolation switch back on then press & hold the "central heating" button for around 10 seconds until the status light starts to flash either pink/white or amber.
3. If the status light flashes pink/white then release the button and press & hold again until the status light changes to a double flashing amber light.
4. Once the status light changes to a single flash of amber, you can then reset the thermostat.

Hive 1 Thermostat:
1. Remove a battery so that the thermostat turns off.
2. With the battery out, push and hold down the "+" and "-" buttons together whilst inserting the battery to power the thermostat back up.
3. It is crucial that these buttons remain held down throughout the process until the word "FIND" appears on the screen (around 10 seconds). If the buttons are released too early then the word "REJOIN" will appear on the screen and the step will need to be repeated again.
4. Once the thermostat has paired, the word "FIND" will disappear from the screen and the inside temperature will be displayed. Make sure the status light on the receiver has turned green at this point and you are then free to exit the install screen on the app/web.

Hive 2 Thermostat:
1. Below the dial on the thermostat there are 3 buttons. Push and hold down the button on the left and the button in the middle (Back arrow and Menu) at the same time.
2. A count down will appear on the screen that says "Factory Reset" and this will count backwards from 10. Once the countdown goes past zero, you can release the buttons and the thermostat will show “Searching”.
3. Once the thermostat has paired, the screen will show all of the things that the buttons do and then will allow you to press the "Back arrow" button to get back to your home screen. Make sure the status light on the receiver has turned green at this point and you are then free to exit the install screen on the app/web.

Pairing an Active Light:
1. Ensure the active light is switched on at the main power switch.
2. Turn the switch off and back on again 6 times at the pace of around 1 second per switch eg. off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on.
3. On the sixth time that you turn the switch back on, the light will flicker, indicating that it is in pairing mode.
4. Click on "Install devices" on either the app/web and select "Add other devices".
5. The active light should then give another flicker when it has connected to the hub and the bulb should appear on the app/web.
