Hi there

hope someone can clarify something for me!

we have an old fan flue fire (fan at back of house) in our house as we have no chimney, we are looking to replace this with an electric fire.

Can someone please confirm what (and who should do it) needs to happen after the gas engineer disconnects it?

we’ve read some things where people have said just put the fire in and connect to mains, but others saying we need to get someone in to “seal” fireplace and block off where flue was?

thanks

Abby

If it is fanned flue chances are it goes straight out the back to a terminal (some were fitted that could be run with a few bends but not common) if the terminal is directly outside just make good the hole at both ends, a bit of rockwool in the duct too, if you leave it in place.
