Hi
The floorboards on my landing sit right on top of the pipes underneath and so when I walk on them they bounce on the pipes & make a noise. On top of that the T&G joint on the chipboards is right where the pipes are. I want to get this area replaces before re-carpeting it.
I was thinking to add noggins where I have marked red, get rid of the chipboard here and then put normal floorboards down where the black boxes are which should be stronger and not bend much. Alternatively I was thinking to use 12mm plywood that is raised by 6mm on the joists and noggins so that it creates a gap above the pipes? Do you think 12mm plywood will be strong enough as it's quite a small surface area and supported at all edges?
Or if there are any other ideas please let me know?
Cheers!
