I currently have a PVC front door, but need to replace it. I'm thinking of replacing it with a wooden one, but will it be much more expensive and difficult to do so? If I just get a new PVC one will I still have to replace the frame?

Help gratefully received!

A wooden door is less expensive than a plastic one, as well as being stronger and more attractive. There is a lot more profit in the plastic door trade, which is why people are keen to fit one for you.

unless you are good at woodwork, I would recommend finding a local joiner to fit it for you. You will probably need a new frame too.

remember to allow for 3 brass hinges, BS mortice lock, nightlatch, door chain, possibly viewer, possibly letter flap.

A hardwood door is worth the extra over a softwood door. Look for solid timber and M&T construction.
