My plumber tells me that me that the hot water expansion vessel needs replacing. I've already paid almost £500 in repairs on the heating system (which is only 3 years old), so I was hoping to do this myself.

I know that if water comes out of the air valve in the expansion vessel, then the internal membrane must have ruptured. I'll double check that this is the case, but assuming the vessel needs replacing, is this something I can do myself?

If so, can anyone direct me to instructions?

Thanks

Check that the valve is not jammed!
But where is the expansion vessel located, if it is within a boiler some are very difficult to get to and you may be best retro fitting an external one.
But if the vessel is easily accessible, then replacing it would depend on your competency levels, I don't think it is illegal to replace one yourself in your own property.
