Hi,

I live in a 1920's brick cavity end of terraced property.
A couple of lintels are cracked (they look to be concrete).
One is above a window that is just under a flat roof.

Not a job Iv'e ever done before, but my plan was to simply strip off the facias (which I will be replacing)
remove the bricks above the lintel, remove the lintel and replace with a new concrete lintle?

Would the window frame be screwed into the lintel? Or only on the sides? If it is I'd have to dismantle the window?

Can't find any info on replacing lintels in old brick cavity walls, so any help / images or videos would be great.

It's not a massive issue but it could affect your lintel choice. Now may be the time to opt for say a neater proprietary metal cavity lintel?
As in something like this.
Are these ok in a brick / cavity / brick setup which this old house is, as opposed to brick / cavity / block?

I'd need to get some replacement weathered bricks to sit in front of the lintel.

Brick/cav/brick will probably fare slightly better but it matters not to the lintel.
