There are puddles next to the front of my house, which are soaking away into the foundations. I’m thinking of putting in a French drain where the soldier course of block paving presently is, leading to drains at either side of the house. The damp-proof course is presently at the same level as the block paving, too (you can just about see it in the picture below, on the curved section).
Is this wise?
How can I retain the blocks beside a new French drain? I’m thinking of using a plastic L-section (https://www.diy.com/departments/black-pvc-angle-profile-l-2-5m-w-30mm/3232637807456_BQ.prd) tucked under the (now moved) soldier blocks, to help to retain the blocks at the edge of the drain, as the only available product retains the blocks from the other side (e.g. https://sek.us.com/products/sek-paver-restraints/)...
Thanks very much!
