Replacing toilet syphon

You Dont need to change it If you take the yellow pinout you can remove the siphon without takeing the toilet apart if its close coupled and get a replacement diapram for it

yes it will fit fine, but the syphon you have (called a turbo syphon, i think) is a great one to take out and fix, turn off the water, remove the yellow split pin and lift the blue section up and out, if the prob is poor flush the washer will be burst, simply cut a new one from thick plastic (rubble sack is best) i would not normally rewasher a syphon as you have to completely remove the whole thing to get to the washer, you are far better fitting a new one, but you can take yours out in 10 secs it might be worthwhile looking at a repair

Thanks all, it's not close coupled and access is really good so for the sake of a fiver I'll probably just replace it :)

Got another question about another one.

My Mum's also got a real old cistern with what looks like a big old lump of copper in which I assume is a siphon of sorts & it's attached underneath and to the pan by what seems to be iron/lead pipe.
Is the old piping likely to be a different bore to the newer plastic stuff and how easy would it be to replace the siphon if I can utilise the old pipes?

Cheers :)

The lump of copper might be a rusty red Bell-end  . The iron/lead pipe will be lead ;) You might be able to get a new syphon onto the old lead - I could ;) is the whole thing 6 feet above the floor with a chain to flush it . Can you post a picture

I'll see if I can get a pic later in the week but from what I can remember it was definitely copper :)
