Window was jambed shut due to broken lock mechanism. The shootbolts had dropped into the keeps and would not move back when handle is turned.
I have managed to free the window and now removed the keeps (top and bottom) which only leave one locking point so I wish to replace. Rather than replace like for like and have the same problem can I use any lock mechanism providing backset and length of lock mechanism is the same.
Replace a lock on another window like for like but this was one single unit and the keep went on side of frame rather than top and bottom with mushrooms instead of shootbolts. This was a lot easier than buying seperate gears and exensions
