Replicating props from Call od Duty's Nazi Zombies

I have begun a project of making props from the game listed in the 'subject'. For those who know of it, I am making the "random weapon box". It seems to be made of some form of burnt oak wood with what could be two 'T- Hinges'. Any advice on what materials to use/what tools are neccessary.
P.S the question marks light up so right now I am configuring the electronics.
