Hi,

I have a combi boiler and want to reposition a radiator. Am I right in thinking that if I isolate the central heating water system from the boiler the hot water sytem is still usable. Does anyone have any advice.
Many thanks

Tony

Depends on the boiler make and model - some will overheat as the pump can't overrun after hot water draw-off.

For many boilers operating the flow/return isolating valves is asking for trouble - they often start to leak :(

What boiler and model is it?

Potterton puma 80e boiler, many thanks for advice given all welcome.

In that case definately don't touch the isolating valves - most will have leaked and scaled themselves up by now.

After hot water draw off the pump continues to run and circulate water around the boiler. Eventually the diverter valve opens and the boiler further dissapates heat into the radiator circuit.

Having said that it would probably be OK having the rads isolated.

Be prepared for the pressure switch and its water connection to block when re-presurising.
