Resting Floor Joist On Of Box Steel

Hi All,

Doing a DIY extension and looking for a some advice.

I have put the box steel in above the bifold opening which was quite a big one at 300 x 200 x 8 RHS. This means the top of the box steel is around 2.45m and given the height restriction and it being a warm roof I am tight on space.

Can I rest the ceiling joist straight on top of the steel? and if so how would you secure them in place, I was thinking to put joist straps in and use a steel nail gun straight into the steel.

any advice would be appreciated

Yes.

if so how would you secure them in place,

Fit solid bridging between the joists (outside the steel landing footprint), then fix an angle cleat to every third joist or so.
