We currently have a rather sloped garden, about a meter drop from the front door to the bottom of the garden. We've been considering the possibility of levelling it and I'm struggling to figure out the options. Ideally the garden would be the same height as the front door, so build a meter high wall at the bottom of the garden and then get a load of soil tipped. Would that be possible?
The reason I'm doubting it as an option is that I can't find any videos online of someone taking that approach - it seems people usually dig down and then build a wall against the soil that needs retaining rather than building the wall and filling it with lots of soil. Maybe it'd be a problem tipping in lots of soil as it wouldn't be compacted?
If anyone could offer any guidance (or 'you must be mad' comments ) it'd be much appreciated!
