I have a warmflow oil boiler with Riello burner. It’s a regular setup with 2 tanks in loft. The CH was running last night when it stopped firing. The CH pump kept running but the Riello never fired up again. This morning, from cold, it still won’t fire up. Same issue with HW and CH. the motorised valves open and the pump starts but boiler and burner are totally silent. There are no lights. Tried the reset button but nothing happened. Had an oil delivery 2 days ago so there’s plenty of oil.

Here’s a photo with the cover off. Other threads say try firing it up with the photocell removed, should I try that?

I put the cover back on, turned power back on and now it’s fired up. Been running 15 mins so it’s hopeful.

Are you saying the burner lockout lamp was never lit?
It just sounds like the appliance wasn't calling for heat.

It was definitely calling for heat. Motorized valves opened, CH pump was running. Same with HW, there’s no HW in the cylinder so turning on the HW opened the MV but the boiler didn’t fire. Turning the boiler and burner off and on again seems to fix it. There is no burner lockout light as far as I can tell. If there is, it doesn’t work.

Which reset are you trying? Apart from the burner reset, There is a boiler limit thermostat which has a reset beneath the plastic ca;p on the control thermostat.
Trying to fire with the photocell removed will still need the photocell to be obscured.
